An Open Letter to 95.7 The Wolf

As a dog, I don't really have much say in what plays on the radio 'round these parts. And while I do appreciate that you're bringing musical diversity to The Bay Area, and my Dan has a soft spot for country, I respectfully request y'all to stop using the wolf howl between every song.
Now don't get me wrong, I think it's a clever bit, and the howls-by-humans are obviously man made, if not a little bit embarrassing, but the other howls, the ones you clearly went to the woods to record real wolves howling? Those get me up and out of my nap zone faster than a speeding bullet. Please cut it out, it doesn't add to the music, and investigating the radio every fifteen is getting old.

Dan and I walked to Becky and Brett's house. Boy what an adventure.

We walked through Hobo Junction, where a Lady-Bum yelled at us from across the street to "Freeze!" She paused for a few seconds, adjusted her pants, and then said "I had a cat around here somewhere. Hold on a minute, let me find her."

Sure enough, trailing a tattered leash that looked like it had been dragging behind the animal it's whole life, was a black cat.
Hobette shouted at the cat to get back to camp a few times while we patiently waited, and then we got tired of the whole scene and braved it by the two of them.

A few uneventful blocks later, we entered the PJs. It's cat squatter heaven around here. I had a hard time keeping it cool, but I made it.

Don't leave it on the counter then.

Dan went out for lunch without me so I fixed up what I could find. I was jonesing for a sammich, but my paws couldn't quite get into the fridge, so I just ate what was left of the bread on the counter. It was a bit messy, what with trying to fight through the plastic wrapper and all of that, but I got a good third of a loaf in the end.

When Dan got back he didn't seem too amused. I guess he'll have to put in a doggie door to the fridge then, won't you Dan?

Man I wish I had opposeable thumbs.

While Dan was showing Morro and Jerry how to put trim on recessed cans I ate half of Jerry's samich. Bacon, and lettuce, and avocado, and tomato, mmm mmm. Dan came out just as I was finishing, but I turned around all quick and was like "what, me? Eat a human-food?" I think he bought it. The tile guys didn't say anything, although they saw the whole thing-- I think they got my if-you-tell-I'll-bite-you look, although I've never bitten anyone in my whole life. Well, my whole life since I've been off the streets, with Dan. I can't be held accountable for what I might have had to do to survive on the streets. But I was only a pup then, and that's behind me now. Anyway, as I turned around there was only a slight flutter of the samich's wrapper and I'm pretty sure Dan thought I was just snooping.

Damn tasty snooping.

On our noontime walk to the nature preserve today I found water in it's natural state, as in not a bath. It was next to dirt, it being a stream and all, and I played in the mire until Dan realized where I was and then he came down to the riverside and called me a few times and when I got tired of listening to him bark commands I went to him.

Yikes, that water is fun. One of these days I hope Dan takes me to the bay, or a lake, or something.

Later he made me watch Charade. With Audrey Hepburn. What a sissy boy.

Holy shit, I swear, sometimes I forget that I have this thing attached to my bum called a tail. Today I was out with Dan watching the hooligans race their soap box cars down Bernal Hill when something caught my attention out of the corner of my eye, right behind me. At first I thought it was another dog shadowing me, and then I thought maybe it was just my shadow (dan learned me all about shadows, and not to be scared), but on the triple take I realized it was something else. Some unidentified animal or whatnot.
And so I gave chase, because that's what we dogs do. We chase. Round and round, and round and round, until I kind of collapsed in front of some hipsters who were too cool for their Converse and their lap dog.
That's when I realized, or remembered, rather, that it was only my tail. How embarrassing.
It was my tail all along.
I feel like this happens at least once a week.
Oh, how embarrassing.

Still not as embarrassing as being a lap dog, though.

Oh, and the Soap Box Derby was rad.

Dan ran me to Holly park today, via Bernal. Oh boy what a day. I know it's not that far, but my little doggy legs had me tuckered by the time I got home. I passed out cold for forty minutes. Dan thought I was dead, but I was just recharging the ol' battery, as they say.
